Many of our past students have stayed in the industry and gone down varying pathways to do so, all while finding success at every level they have encountered!

Here are some of our amazing Lapeer AMTC alumni!

GAVIN WANDRIE, CLASS OF 2026: Moved in as a freshman at Oakland University studying Mechatronics Engineering. In the honors college and staying in the honors dorms. Values college for career, learning, and networking opportunities. Has met many people and joined multiple friend groups. Plans to be part of a systems integration team and to be a volunteer firefighter. Helping people is described as a passion tied to their Christian faith.

ANDREW OLSON, CLASS OF 2024: Currently works as a robot programmer for the Pentier Group here in Lapeer. Travels around setting up robotic cells and PLCs for companies around the industry.

Actually was contracting on a job for Chrysler and ended up working on the same cell as Andrew the year after he graduated.

Were there any learning curves that you encountered when you went into the industry? “There’s almost nothing that I wasn’t prepared for in the field. Tell the students to keep learning and they can do anything.”

JERITH PALMER, CLASS OF 2025: Currently works at 3Dimensional Services Group here in Lapeer as a robot programmer.

“I received a ‘promotion’ at work and I was transferred to the engineering department and now work directly under the CTO of the company. As a result, I’ve become our main robot expert for new experimental projects. Also got my own office! I’ve also been doing ungodly amounts of hydraulic work.

“For the last two weeks, I’ve been working with SpaceX to get our automated thread inspection up to snuff and I’ve been in my first few meetings with our customers.

“Also, I HIGHLY recommend going through Excel with your current class!”
